What's New in Wirestock: A Guide for Creators

What's New in Wirestock: A Guide for Creators

Alex Armstrong

Earlier this year, we announced that Wirestock would stop distributing content to third-party stock marketplaces. That was the first step. Today, we’re sharing what comes next, and more importantly, exactly what it means for you and what you need to do.

Quick summary of changes

These changes will roll out over the next few weeks.

• The Portfolio and Marketplace are being retired.

• Previously approved content will move automatically to Paid per sale projects.

• Unapproved content will be removed from the platform.

Profiles are being expanded for project matching.

Challenges are being discontinued.

Premium plans are being discontinued. Current subscribers will be refunded.

Your portfolio and content: what happens to it

The Portfolio as it currently exists will be retired. But not all of your content will be removed from Wirestock.

Any content that was previously approved on Wirestock will be automatically moved into a relevant Paid per sale project. These are ongoing, open projects organized by content type, such as Photographs, Videos, and Illustrations. Once your content is there, it can be licensed by buyers repeatedly over time. You receive a payment every time it’s licensed, with no ongoing effort required from you. We will actively seek buyers on your behalf.

Content that was submitted but never approved will be removed from the platform. Before the transition, we recommend reviewing your portfolio so you know which of your submissions were approved and which were not.

Paid per sale projects: how they work

Paid per sale projects are Wirestock’s new home for licensable content. They work differently from the old Marketplace, where your content sat passively and waited to be found.

In a Paid per sale project, your approved content is organized into structured, always-on project listings by type. Buyers browse and license content from these projects, and every license generates a payment to you automatically. The more content you have approved and in the right projects, the more opportunities you have to earn passive income over time.

If you want to add new content to Paid per sale projects going forward, you’ll submit it through the standard paid projects workflow, the same process you may already be familiar with.

Your profile, expanded

Your Wirestock profile is being significantly expanded. Rather than serving mainly as a public display of your portfolio, it will now be the primary way you’re matched with paid project opportunities across the platform.

We’ll be adding new fields for skills, content specialties, equipment, and experience. Filling these out fully will directly affect the quality and relevance of the project invitations you receive. More detail on the new profile fields will be shared when they go live alongside the transition.

Challenges

Challenges will be discontinued as part of this update. Any currently active challenges will be closed before the transition completes. Prizes for challenges that have already reached their end date will still be awarded in full.

Premium plans

Premium plans will be discontinued. If you’re currently on a Premium plan, you will be automatically refunded for any unused portion of your subscription. You do not need to take any action. Refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days of the transition date.

On a Premium plan? Your refund will be processed automatically within 5 to 10 business days after the transition goes live. No action required.

If anything is unclear or something doesn’t look right, our support team is available at support@wirestock.io. We’re committed to making this transition as smooth as possible, and we’re excited about what comes next for creators on this platform.
